What are your thoughts on why you would want to buy this?

Investment or a trade?

If you are looking long term why would you want to buy a high-end retailer? In spite of the global socialistic moves the past few days, the economy is still sliding towards GD 2.0. If I am right in my opinion the last thing I would want to own are companies whose sales depend on discretionary income for unnecessary things.

If your looking for a short term move, you may get a sharp rise as all retailers ride the rising tide of the delusional financial fix. Once people realize that the consumer is still unwell and all this hoopla is for naught you will probably see all the retailers come back to earth, use tight stops or stay on top of the buy.

desrat the reason behind this purchase is the exact opposite of what you are talking about. they are out of the retail game altogether... from here on out the group that bought the sharper image name is going to use it for branding only.

yesterday a $550M deal was announced b/w shrpq and homedics for homedics to begin producing sharper image branded products.

they will never be a retailer again.
